Wikitribune: Journalism 2.0?

We want to make sure that you read fact-based articles that have a real impact in both local and global events. And that stories can be easily verified and improved.
Wikitribune is a news platform that brings journalists and a community
of volunteers together.

People who spend a lot of time with me inevitably come to know that I am a big evangelist for openness. They also might notice that I am a proponent of free education, liberal collaboration, fair markets, professional journalism and that I have been for the past decade a supporter and (occasional) contributor to Wikipedia.

Today I am happy to announce that my preference for professional, paid yet still open, journalism gets a name. Jimmy Wales (yes, the bloke You know from Wikipedia fame) has unveiled a new enterprise and this time we all should get better news for it.

Wikitribune

Wikitribune[link] is to become the news platform of the interconnected new world. It joins professional journalists with an open-source workflow that allows everyone (yes, that's you) to check the facts, see the shaping of the document through time and also propose corrections! How awesome is that??

But let me stop waxing at this point and let's hear it from the man himself:

BTW, You can become a supporter now and feel the warmth of doing a good thing and TODAY helping the world become more open today! :-)

Cheers,
